DecalGirl Skins for BlackBerry Storm 2 Are Here

Share

DecalGirl skins for the second generation BlackBerry Storm, the Storm 2, are here. DecalGirl skins feature stunning artistic expressions combined with a functional design. DecalGirl skins use a removeable adhesive-backed vinyl cover with a glossy clear laminate to provide protection from scratches and dings. Their low bulk design allows compatibility with third-party cases and accessories and the skins are easily removable without any leftover sticky goo.

The functionality of these skins is great, but what really makes DecalGirl stand above the rest is there dazzling artistic designs. Each design is digitally printed in high-resolution format onto the cast vinyl to provide art-quality results. Their designs are vibrant and colorful and free matching wallpapers are included with each skin via a download code. At around 7 bucks each, you can't beat 'em. Slacker Bug for BlackBerry Storm - No Audio

Slacker Radio Software Bug - BlackBerry Storm

Slacker Radio for BlackBerry Storm has a bug which can cause your audio to stop working. After using Slacker, all of your audio sounds including your ringers and music files may not work.

The quick fix is to simply reboot your Storm by removing and reinstalling the battery. All should be well after the reboot but opening Slacker again may or may not cause the problem to happen again. It is unknown whether Slacker is working on a fix for this issue. I've since uninstalled Slacker as I wasn't real impressed with it anyway. Pandora offers a much better music selection and a better user interface. Check it out at BlackBerry App World.

The World Wide Melting Pot

Share
The growth of the Internet in the past decade has been phenomenal. The Internet is a huge melting pot of information, culture, and entertainment - a giant bulletin board for the world. There is no better tool for research and study.

The Internet has developed under the fundamental principles of the open source movement allowing everyone to express their ideas and opinions and post them quickly and easily. More feedback equals better solutions. Human minds as a collective unit are both powerful and efficient. This concept holds true for any aspect of our lives both personal and professional.

As with any popular communication medium, the Internet has been and will continue to be exploited. Where the people congregate, the salesmen will follow as will the criminals. The virtual world of the Internet reflects the real world in that only the strong will survive. Web sites come and go daily and rogue viruses, phishing scams, and over monetization will surely drive the weak-hearted away. Will people someday abandon the Internet the way some have abandoned other heavily monetized mediums such as television? Surely. The Internet, however, is still young and growing and just like the real world, you must adapt and overcome.

Explore the Internet and you will learn it's true value which far exceeds sending email and doing comparison shopping. Have a problem or question on your mind? Type it into Google and be amazed at how easy the solution presents itself. Need a new software solution? Do a search and be amazed that there's a free option out there just waiting for download. The benefits the Internet offers far outweigh the risks. Modern technology is not an evil thing, it just takes patience and an open mind to understand. Roll with the changes or get flattened.

My New Blackberry Storm 2 - Review

Share

Hey everybody. Thought I would share my opinions of the new Blackberry Storm 2 9550. This is a first impression type of review and more detailed posts will surely follow.

The Blackberry Storm has received a luke-warm reception with complaints of lock-ups and usability issues, but is still a very attractive and productive device. The Storm 2 improved greatly on the virtual keyboard and I like the big display for web surfing and reading.

The Storm 2 has an on-screen keyboard, which is a little hard to get used to, but is very cool. Texting takes some practice on this type of keyboard. The interface is fairly intuitive even though I had some problems initially getting the device to play my music. Turned out to simply be a software update issue. This phone has so many features and it will take a little time and patience to figure them all out. I have read the user manual provided by my carrier (Verizon), but it isn't as detailed as it could be. Blackberry provides an online user guide in HTML or PDF format that is detailed, but somewhat hard to navigate. I expect I'll do as most people do and learn by everyday use and experimentation.

The email feature, like other BlackBerry devices, is simple to set up and is super handy for keeping up with my multiple accounts. The stock earbuds included with the device perform quite well too, even though I will surely upgrade to a more comfortable set. I love the sleek, glossy design and, of course, my first accessories were a protective case and screen protector. My Storm 9550 includes Wi-Fi capability. Wi-Fi allows for much faster Internet browsing, and allows for more network flexibility.

Uploading MP3's to my Storm 2 from my computer is very easy with the Blackberry Media Sync software. It will automatically "find" the Blackberry when I connect via the USB cable and integrates with Windows Media Player and iTunes to find your playlists. Verizon provides syncing software as well that integrates with Rhapsody and Verizon's VCast, but I haven't had any luck getting the software to find my device yet. I'll keep Googling the issue until I find a solution as the Blackberry and Verizon online help don't offer much in the way of an answer and I only call customer support hotlines as a very last resort. I currently don't use Rhapsody or VCast but it still bugs me that the software doesn't work correctly.

The Storm 2 is packed full of great functionality, is very compact, and looks great. I do have the occasional lock-up though. I'll keep you updated with any bugs and fixes I come across. As with all BlackBerry devices, the Storm 2 has it's purpose. I recommend the Blackberry Storm 2 for users who would benefit from a big display and touch controls. If you like to text, then try the on-screen keyboard out first before you buy. The device is very attractive and popular apps like FaceBook, Pandora, and Twitter are readily available as well.
